The Waste Management and Environmental Issues division is responsible for administering the collection and disposal of household garbage, organics and the collection of household recycling.
Under By-law 98-118, the City of Quinte West operates a User-Pay Garbage System, whereby residents must purchase a garbage tag (currently $2.50 per tag) for each bag set out to the curbside for weekly collection. The weekly collection of household garbage and organics is presently contracted to Matrec.
Household recyclables are collected by Quinte Waste Solutions and must be sorted properly and placed in a blue box. For specific information, please contact the Recycling Hotline at (613) 394-6266 or visit their website at www.quinterecycling.org.
