Tourism Services Advisory Committee
Purpose
The Tourism Services Advisory Committee was formed by City Council to provide a forum for discussion and recommendation to Council on matters pertaining to tourism services in the City of Quinte West. The voluntary 7-member Committee consists of two (2) members of Council, four (4) members of the public, and a director of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Tourism Services Advisory Committee are briefly outlined below.
- Formulate strategy and advise Council on the promotion of sustainable tourism (residents and visitors) in Quinte West
- Advise Council on the types and forms of tourism products, and investment and infrastructure development opportunities in Quinte West
- Advise Council and guide municipal funding for tourism services in Quinte West
- Advise Council and guide tourism services in its strategic marketing of tourism and specific initiatives to enhance destination development
- Work in partnership with the business community and provide community leadership to maximize consumer awareness of the destination
- Act as a resource for City Council and staff in hosting visiting dignitaries, travel trade, and serve as City ambassadors in the tourism community, locally and beyond
