Animal Control

Animal control in Quinte West is contracted to Quinte West Animal Control, which is responsible for enforcing the provisions of our Dog Licensing & Control and Animals (Other than Dogs) Running at Large By-laws. All complaints or concerns relating to domestic animals including lost pets, stray animals, or nuisance pet complaints should be directed to Quinte West Animal Control at 613-398-0222. 

Dog licenses must be purchased annually for each dog owned. These are available at City Hall and the Frankford Municipal Service Centre and must be purchased not later than July 1st each year. Refusal to purchase a dog license may result in a penalty of $50.00. 

The Dog Licensing & Control By-law states that no person shall harbour more than three (3) dogs in an urban area and no more than five (5) in a rural area in accordance with Schedule B to the by-law.  Person wishing to do so must make application for a Kennel License and must meet planning regulations.
